Abstract

The velocity fields and the associated tangential tractions corresponding to the flow induced by a flat plate that applies a specified stress in an Oldroyd-B fluid are determined by means of Fourier cosine transforms. The solutions corresponding to a Maxwell, second-grade, and Navier-Stokes fluid appear as limiting cases of the solutions established here.
