Abstract: We introduce in this paper the fundamental ideas of the theory of $\varepsilon$-generators and illustrate their application to certain questions related to the classical Lusin's theorem, concerning the continuity of measurable functions when restricted to convenient subsets of their domains of definition. We also discuss some general results concerning sequence of functions and their $\varepsilon$-generators.
