theory which evolved from G. Pólya's pioneering work
[Acta Math. 68 (1937), 145-254]
on combinatorial enumerations for groups, graphs and chemical compounds.
The paper has been finally published under the same title in
Bayreuth. Math. Schr. 15 (1983), ii+338 pp.
