Female Assistant Professor, Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS)

The Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) is seeking to appoint a female assistant professor as described in detail below. This gender-specific recruitment is being made in accordance with Article 8, Special Provisions of Measures Pertaining to Women Workers, of the Act on Securing Equal Opportunity and Treatment for Men and Women in Employment, and in accordance with Kyoto University's policy to promote gender equality in the fields of education, research, and employment.

Position: Assistant Professorship (one vacancy)

Location: Faculty Consort of Mathematical Sciences (The Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences [RIMS]), Kyoto University, Kitashirakawa Oiwake-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto

Starting date of appointment: March 1, 2018, or later

Qualifications: The applicant must have obtained a Ph.D. by the starting date of the appointment, or must demonstrate comparable ability as a researcher. The position is available to women only.

Area of specialization: Mathematics and mathematical sciences

Business hours: Discretionary labor system, based on 7 hours, 45 minutes per day (8:30-17:15 work schedule with a one-hour break), 38 hours 45 minutes per week. Days off: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, Kyoto University Foundation Day, and summer vacation.

Salary and benefits: To be determined in accordance with the Kyoto University Regulations Regarding Salaries of Faculty and Staff

Period of employment: Seven years, with the possibility of one three-year extension. If the employment is extended for three years, the employee may be required to give mathematics lectures in Japanese for undergraduates at Kyoto University.
