Announcement of Recruitment of a Program-specific Assistant Professor

The newly established research project (Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (S) : New development of algebraic geometry viewed from theoretical physics, principal investigator, Atsushi Moriwaki, Kyoto University) announces the recruitment of a Program-specific Assistant Professor (Non-tenured track faculty position) at the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) as below.
Applicants will be screened through document review and possibly through interviews. Promising researchers regardless of any nationality are encouraged to apply for the position.

Number of positions: 1 vacancy.

Start Date: October 1st, 2016 (at the earliest)

Qualifications: Each applicant is required to obtain a Ph.D. by the starting date of the appointment.

Area of specialization:
・Algebraic Geometry
・Mathematical Physics related to algebraic geometry

Salary and fringe benefits: Based on the salary regulations of the National University Corporation Kyoto University. (the annual salary system)

Term of employment: From October 1st, 2016 (at the earliest) to March 31st, 2017 with a possibility of renewal for up to another four and a half years until March 31st, 2021 at the latest. (One Year Renewal)

Working hours: A discretionary labor system to be applied. Under this system, a successful applicant will be deemed to have worked for 38 hours and 45 minutes per week or 7 hours and 45 minutes per working day, even if he/she actually has worked more or less (but not zero) than such hours each day. (Standard working hours: 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM)

Holidays: Sundays and Saturdays; Statutory holidays under the Act on National Holidays; Year-end and new year’s holidays (December 29 to January 3); Anniversary of Foundation of the University (June 18); and Summer holidays

Social Insurance: Eligible for MEXT* mutual aid association membership, employees' pensions, employment insurance, and workers’ compensation insurance.

  4. Summary of achievements and plans for future research of about 3 pages long in total.
  5. The names, affiliations, and email addresses of three researchers who are familiar with the applicant’s research.
  6. One or more letters of reference by the people among the list above. Each letter of reference should be sent by the referee him/herself to the email account and must be received by the deadline. (If a referee still prefers to send the letter of reference by mail, he/she should follow the instruction for application documents below.)
