| In these lectures I shall discuss the Alexander polynomials and abelian torsions of 3-manifolds. I shall focus on geometric and algebraic techniques allowing to obtain a surgery formula for the Alexander polynomials of 3-manifolds. This includes a study of related geometric structures: homology orientations and Euler structures. |
