A Brief Introduction to Cryptography
|
要約: |
Cryptography is the process of changing information
in ways which only allows a person intended to receive the
information to recover its original contents. Until 1976,
this meant that the sender and receiver had to exchange some
kind of secret key beforehand, in a secure way. But in 1976,
Diffie and Hellman invented a method - now called public-key
cryptography - which allows the exchange of secret messages
over an insecure channel even if the sender and receiver never
met before. Soon after, the now very common RSA Cryptosystem
was invented. These cryptosystems are interesting applications
of some elementary and not so elementary aspects of Number Theory.
In this class, we will only discuss some of the more elementary
aspects.
