An introduction to reinforced stochastic processes
|
| 要約: |
Many real-world systems exhibit /reinforcement/, whereby future events are influenced (either positively or negatively) by past outcomes. To model such effects, probability theory provides a range of stochastic processes with memory, whose behaviour can differ dramatically from classical “memoryless” models. In this talk, I will introduce the topic of reinforced stochastic processes through one of its simplest and most fundamental examples: Pólya's urn. We will explore how reinforcement shapes the evolution of the system and leads to surprising and rich behaviour. |
