Abstract: In this article we solve the problem of finding all possible values of the illumination number for the direct vector sum of two compact, convex planar figures which are not assumed to be smooth. It is proved that the possible values are only 7, 8, 9, 12, and 16.

Keywords: direct vector sum, convex body, illumination number
