4.8 Going further
For further details on the techniques and prospects of pulsar timing, a number of excellent reviews are
available [18, 355, 31, 338
, 229]. Two audio files and slides from lectures at the centennial meeting of the
American Physical Society are also available on-line [16, 398]. The tests of general relativity discussed in
Section 4.4, along with further effects, are reviewed elsewhere in this journal by Will [399] and Stairs [338].
A recent review by Kramer & Stairs [202] provides a detailed account of the double pulsar. Further
discussions on the realities of using pulsars as gravity wave detectors can be found in other review
articles [316, 15, 147].
