Untimely passing of Professor Emeritus Kiyosi Itô
We announce with profound sorrow that on November 10, 2008,
Professor Emeritus Kiyosi Itô passed away of respiratory failure at
Takaori Hospital, Kyoto. One week before, on November 3, 2008,
Professor Itô had just been awarded the Order of Culture,
the most prestigious prize awarded by the Japanese Emperor, at which
occasion he had expressed his wish to share the honor and happiness
with his family and colleagues.

A Memorial Service for Professor Emeritus Kiyosi Itô
will be held at
Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall,
on Sunday 7 December 2008 at 1.00pm, to be followed by a lecture.
Professor Paul Malliavin (Académie des sciences) will give
a lecture entitled "Some aspects of the present impact of Kiyosi Ito seminal ideas" at 4:00 p.m.
