    不変式への誘い：多項式は数学の基本的対象の一つであるが、この中には不変式というものがあって、いろんな数学に顔を出す。対称式や判別式という具体的な不変式の話を入口として不変式論を紹介したい。19世紀以来の蓄積とヒルベルトの天才的な着想を含む代数学の美しい分野の一つでもある。彼の提出した第14問題を初等的に定式化し、これに対する永田の反例も紹介したい。
