The untimely passing of Professor Emeritus Sato Mikio

With deep sorrow, we have to announce that Professor Emeritus Sato Mikio passed away on January 9, 2023.
He established a new research field called algebraic analysis with his many original theories, including hyperfunction.
He has fostered an outstanding research group called the ''Sato School''. He also made a great contribution to the management of the institute, serving two terms as its director.
We would like to express our deepest condolences on his passing.
