Fucheng Tan's research interests lie in Arithmetic Geometry and Number Theory. He studies p-adic Hodge theory, anabelian geometry, and Galois representations, as well as p-adic automorphic forms. His works are centered in the comparison between etale cohomology and crystalline cohomology, the Fontaine-Mazur conjecture linking Galois representation and modular forms, and more recently Mochizuki's theory of Inter-universal Teichmuller theory, which is in certain sense a global analogue of the p-adic comparison theorem and shall lead to rich arithmetic applications.
