The untimely passing of Professor Emeritus Araki Fujihiro

With deep sorrow, we have to announce that Professor Emeritus Araki Fujihiro passed away on December 16, 2022.
He was a distinguished mathematician with outstanding achievements in the study of quantum field theory, quantum statistical mechanics, and operator algebras.
He was also a great contributor to the development of the mathematical community in Japan and internationally.
He also contributed greatly to the management of the RIMS, serving two terms as a director.
We would like to express our deepest condolences on his passing.
